Kat DeLuna Discography

Kat DeLuna grew up in the Bronx, New York and was born to Dominican parents in 1937. When her father left the family, a nine year old Kat found herself and her sisters begging for food from neighbors in order to survive. Instead of bringing her down, DeLuna used her pain as inspiration for her singing and a reason to stay in school. She was accepted into the New Jersey School of the Performing Arts.

As a teen, she was invited by Milly Quezada, known as the “Queen of Merengue” to sing with her onstage. A few years later, Kat responded to an ad and auditioned for a hip hop group called Coquette. At 15, Kat entered a Coca Cola singing competition and won with her rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. She was later picked up by record label Get Money Brothers, and then Epic Records. She is currently under contract with both labels.

DeLuna’s first album, 9 Lives, was released August 7, 2007. It features fourteen tracks, including her hit single “Whine Up”, a collaboration with Elephant Man. 9 Lives can be found in any major music store. DeLuna is currently working on her sophomore release.
